Is spring finally on the horizon? The weather had been truly miserable over the last few weeks as winter seemed to be clinging on and refusing to let go. Although it seems that now, the end is in sight and at last the sun has come out. It hasn’t seemed to bother some too much – the wild mallard duck spotted splashing around and having a truly lovely time in the ponds that have been created in the midst of fields after all the rain. Mischief (the black Labrador) has enjoyed it too, wallowing in the puddles, while continuing her eternal search for the perfect stick.
Now is a lovely time for walking around the estate (with a good pair of wellies of course!) There are no cows in the field and the grass and bracken are low, meaning that you can access all the paths across the fields, through the woods and over the old railway line. The snowdrops are flowering, the primroses are peeping through waiting to be rediscovered and the first few daffodils are starting to push above the earth’s surface. The days are getting longer and it is remaining light until later, allowing walks into the evening too. Spring is nearly upon us.
In the hut, the log burner is lit and everything feels good when you come in from your adventures, to a cup of tea and a piece of cake to warm up with.
